The CAADP Team here at the NEPAD Sec is busy making preparing for next week’s ‘Water and Energy Conference: The Challenges of Climate Change’ which is to be held in Sirte, Libya. The conference is scheduled for 15-17 December 2008.
Participants from 53 FAO African Member States will take part in the Conference. Members of Non-Governmental Organizations, farmer and civil society associations, and the private sector will participate in the official Conference and in the various parallel events.

As part of our ongoing work – particularly through CAADP Pillar 1 on water and sustainable land management – the CAADP Team which will be led by Prof. Richard Mkandawire is looking to make some inputs at the conference on issues concerning the high food prices and the strong linkages with energy and climate change.
The conference will also provide us here at CAADP with an opportunity to enhance the CAADP Agenda and to remind key decision makers about their country commitments towards prioritizing agriculture as a genuine avenue for socio-economic development in Africa.
Keep you posted on the developments at the conference.
Best wishes,
Andrew.

Welcome to the new CAADP website and to our new blog. This website will be officially launched at a forthcoming African Union meeting. But today we took the unusual step of pre-launching the site to allow donors and CG scientists to give us feedback on what extra information they want on the site.
Donors have already asked, for example, for information on increases in agricultural production in countries where CAADP is working. And, since we have those statistics, we’ll be posting them on the relevant pages this week. (more…)
