AU/NEPAD holds key workshop on how to tackle the surge in food prices and food insecurity in Africa

Tshwane, (May 20, 2008) - The African Union (AU) in conjunction with the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) is holding a four-day workshop that is based on the theme of “accelerating investments in response to high food prices and food insecurity in Africa”. The workshop runs from the 20th to the 23rd of May and it is being held in Pretoria, South Africa.
This event, which is a follow-up to the December 2006 Abuja food security summit, is co-ordinated by NEPAD’s Comprehensive Africa Agricultural Development Programme (CAADP). CAADP is an Africa-led initiative and framework to rationalise and revitalise African agriculture for economic growth and lasting poverty reduction results.
